Federal Recall Resources

Federal Recall Resources (non-graphical)

We compiled a list of sites that announce product recalls. So, if you are looking for a specific recall and didn't find it mentioned on our site, check these sites.

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
CPSC is responsible for protecting the public against unreasonable risks of injuries and deaths associated with over 15,000 types of consumer products. Visit the CPSC’s website to search for recalls by product type, by company, by product topic, or get a list of current major recalls.

United States Environmental Protection Agency (Office Of Pesticide Programs)
The Office of Pesticide Programs is responsible for protecting the public health and the environment from the risks posed by pesticides and to promote safer means of pest control.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
FDA is responsible for ensuring the safety of a variety of products. Their site contains recalls on food, cosmetics, medical devices and medicines. The FDA ensures the safety and effectiveness of biologics (such as insulin and vaccines) and radiation-emitting products (such as microwave ovens). In addition, the FDA regulates the feed and drugs for pets and farm animals, as well.

The FDA publishes a weekly report, FDA Enforcement Report, that contains information on actions taken in connection with the agency's regulatory activities.

Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS)
Part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, FSIS is responsible for ensuring the safety of the nation’s commercial supply of meat, poultry, and egg products and that these products are correctly labeled and packaged. Their site lists current recalls on food products and they maintain a recall archive of past recall announcements.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
Under the Department of Transportation, NHTSA is responsible for setting and enforcing safety performance standards for motor vehicles and motor vehicle equipment. NHTSA investigates safety defects in motor vehicles, and promotes the use of safety belts, child safety seats, and airbags. The NHTSA site has a variety of search engines that help visitors to locate specific information pertaining to motor vehicle and equipment recalls, consumer complaints, safety studies and more.
